the korean peninsula next week. things will turn stormier across the korean peninsula next week. we are expecting another hot and sunny day. out west we've got a seasonal frontal line moving in to western japan. you'll see short time heavy rain as well as thunderstorms. cooler air flows in from the north. we'll see a sharp drop in temperatures. only 24 degrees expected. still on the hot side in tokyo. temperatures will remain over 30 degrees for the next seven days. it continues to move toward west and parallel to mexico for the next several days. it could bring moisture as well as conditions across the coast. we have a long frontal line stretching from southern plains up toward canada. conditions are quite severe in and around texas as well as oklahoma. wet conditions will remain for the next few days. rainfall could be up to 100 millimeters. that's a lot for this region. flooding will be a major concern here. meanwhile cooler air coming from the north over the eastern half of the west in canada. temperatures are cooling down to 23 degrees in chicago. 19 degrees in toronto. we have

and the broader city. san francisco is on a peninsula. it is unusual in that respect. it is hard to maintain a transmission grid that is on the peninsula. pg&e has, since that time, implemented some reliability projects. a line that ended at the hunters point substation. and has continued to work with its regulators, among them the california public utilities commission and the california independent system operator, to propose and develop options that would further enhance reliability in the city. and the proposal that pg&e will talk about today is to connect the 230 kv line from the embarcadero substation in downtown to the petros substation. -- potrero substation. the idea is that if there were a major earthquake in the city, that in some way it disconnected the existing 115 lines that serve thedede substation, that there would be seismically-sound redundant transmission lines serving downtown so that the lights will not go out. this is a major transition project. these do not occur that frequently in the city. they are a highly regulated type of project. pg&e has indicated that they are
fire tore through a peninsula elementary school last week. kira klapper is live at the beechwood school. >> reporter: beechwood is a private school it serves a special purpose here in menlo park students who live in a low performing district. i witnessed a close-knit community, remarkable effort from that community made today's quick reopening possible. >> when we were standing here thursday morning, while the fire was burning, that was the goal to get school back open monday morning. >> reporter: the principal is one of many who is ecstatic after thursday's fire that torched a mobile building housing third grade classroom and administrative offices. >> we lost emergency cards and registration information for children we hope families will be able to give us contact information. >> reporter: the private school relies on donations which have poured in since the fire. support from the parents keeps this community thriving. dozens of parents spent all day saturday cleaning up. >> i was suppose to be at a coastal cleanup saturday at my daughter's high school. beechwood came first. >> report
